01 / Outdoor Lounge Seating

Outdoor Lounge Seating

Commercial outdoor lounge seating is specified for durability in Charlotte, NC’s climate, which comes with hot summers, UV exposure and seasonal rain. The most important specification choices are frame material, fabric solution-dye process and foam construction.

Frame and fabric materials TNT specifies:
  • Powder-coated aluminum is the commercial standard. It is corrosion-resistant, lightweight and available in the broadest finish range

  • HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is a recycled material option. It’s UV-stable, requires zero maintenance and is suited to pool-deck environments with chemical exposure

  • Teak’s natural oil content provides weather resistance without treatment. This material is used in premium hospitality and multifamily environments

  • Solution-dyed acrylic (Sunbrella and equivalent). Color is dyed into the fiber, not surface-coated. This way, it does not fade under UV exposure. It’s a standard for all outdoor seating TNT specifies

  • Quick-dry foam that drains and dries rather than absorbing and retaining water. It is specified as standard for outdoor cushions in wet environments

02 / Dining Furniture

Outdoor Dining Furniture

Commercial outdoor dining furniture is specified for durability and for stackability. A dining terrace that cannot clear quickly for events or adverse weather is under-specified.

Outdoor dining furniture TNT specifies:
  • Dining tables: powder-coated aluminum frames with HPL, ceramic, or solid surface tops. Table base configuration confirmed against the surface it will be set on – concrete, pavers, or decking

  • Stacking outdoor chairs: aluminum or polypropylene; stacks 8+ for efficient storage; UV-stable color throughout the material, not surface finish

  • Outdoor bar-height tables and stools: same frame and material specification as dining. Height confirmed against the bar or counter surface they serve

03 / Umbrellas & Shade

Umbrellas & Shade Structures

Shade is a functional requirement for commercial outdoor environments in Charlotte. Without it, the outdoor amenity is unusable for most of the day during summer months.

Umbrella types we specify:
  • Center-pole umbrellas are the most economical. They are suited to dining tables with a center hole. Canopy diameter: 7–11 feet standard

  • Cantilever (offset-pole) umbrellas have no center pole. This allows furniture to be positioned freely under the canopy, but this type of umbrella requires a weighted or concrete base

  • Market umbrellas – square or octagonal canopies. Commercial-grade, they come with aluminum or wood poles

04 / Landscape Accessories

Planters & Landscape Accessories

Commercial planters are specified as part of the outdoor furniture program. They define zones, provide visual enclosure and anchor the landscape design to the furniture layout.

We specify:
  • GRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) – lightweight relative to its visual mass. Suited to rooftop and upper-floor environments where structural load is constrained

  • Fiberglass – the lightest option. Extensive color and finish range and suited to environments where weight is a primary concern

  • Corten steel – self-patinating weathering steel. Distinctive orange-brown finish. Suited to contemporary commercial environments where raw material is the design intent

  • Glazed ceramic – suited to covered terrace and atrium environments. This material is not specified for uncovered outdoor environments in freeze-thaw climates

  • All commercial planters specified by TNT include drainage because planters without drainage destroy plant root systems

  • Planting and irrigation coordinated with the landscape designer as part of the program
